On Sunday's Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian, 29, goes under the needle -- getting Botox injected in her face without numbing cream! In the clip below, Kim visits the plastic surgeon's office with sister Khloe, 26, who squeals in horror as her sister undergoes the skin-smoothing treatment.
Kim chastised her sister for refusing to be "supportive," but may we take Khloe's side for a moment here? Kim Kardashian is one of the world's most beautiful women -- and she's not even 30. Why on Earth does she think she needs to get cosmetic injections? Is there some microscopic imperfection on her face that we're not seeing on our high-def TVs? We can't help but cringe when she asks Khloe, "Do I look younger?" If she looks any younger, they'll stop serving her at bars!
Getting onscreen Botox is also a strange move for a woman who's said she wants to be an example for young girls, to teach them to "embrace your curves and who you are." Botox is intended to camouflage the wrinkles and facial lines that are a natural result of aging, not to serve as injectable makeup for women at the height of their beauty. Not to mention that the long-term effects of cosmetic Botox injections are unknown. (Kardashian may have some regrets if she can no longer move her eyebrows by age 40.) In other words, it's not a great thing to condone for your teenage fans. And they're definitely paying attention; the message that Kardashian sends is that Botox is a cheaper, more harmless version of plastic surgery. And that's not necessarily true.
At least Kim had the common sense to take Khloe with her. The younger Kardashian flat-out tells Kim that Botox is a stupid idea -- which is exactly what a good sister will do. Too bad she's not willing to hear it.
