On Sunday (September 12), Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Justin Bieber and the Broken Bells will vie for the Best New Artist title at the 2010 Video Music Awards. But what does the Moonman mean to these industry newbies? MTV News caught up with a few of the nominees to find out.
Jason Derulo, who has opened for Lady Gaga and scored back-to-back radio hits, said he attended the award show last year, although he didn't have the best seat in the house. "Last year, I went to the MTV Awards, I sat all the way in the back. This year, I'm nominated for two awards. It's incredible," he gushed. "I've watched these awards my whole entire life, so to be finally a part of it is a dream come true. Pinch me, please."
Fellow nominee Nicki Minaj, whose climb to the top started on the mixtape circuit, said that the nomination was the pinnacle of her career. "I mean, obviously this is something everybody dreamed of being part of and I'm no exception to that rule," the Young Money rapper said. "I just feel like this is my coming-out party. This is major for an artist with no album out."
Whether or not Minaj takes home the award, she's sure to set her mark Sunday with her eye-popping fashion and her performance on the pre-show, which will be the first televised solo performance of her career.
If Ke$ha's journey to solo success wasn't already hinted at when she penned hits for Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears, she says her nomination proves it.
"This is such a monumental thing for me to be nominated, because it really means people do really like what I'm doing," she said. Asked what would happen if she did take home the Moonman, the singer merely smiled.

The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET.

The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will feature yet another epic battle: Lady Gaga leading the nominations, with 13, followed close behind by Eminem, who has eight nods. And on September 12 at at 9 p.m ET, the pop diva and the Detroit MC will go head to head for the coveted Video of the Year Moonman.
Gaga will certainly be a dominant presence at the show, thanks to her nods in categories like Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Best Dance Music Video for "Bad Romance." Gaga is the first female artist to be nominated for Video of the Year twice, for "Bad Romance," as well as her collaboration with Beyoncé, "Telephone."
"I'm so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I'm even more proud it's an unlucky number: 13," Lady Gaga said. "A long time ago, the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard. Together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: to make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!"
Eminem, whose "Not Afraid" video is up for Video of the Year, will try to fend off his competition in categories like Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video. Plus, he's nominated alongside Drake in Best Hip-Hop Video for his contribution to the MC's cameo-filled "Forever."
"Apparently, MTV doesn't care that I have two massive stadium shows on the other side of the country the day after the VMAs. F me, right?!?!" Eminem joked. "I mean, I'll be there, but don't expect me to be nice about it."
Also nominated for Video of the Year are Florence and the Machine ("Dog Days Are Over"), 30 Seconds to Mars ("Kings and Queens") and B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams ("Airplanes").
Katy Perry's ode to her home state "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg, is up for Best Female Video, along with Ke$ha's "Tik Tok"; "Video Phone" with Gaga and Beyoncé; Taylor Swift's "Fifteen" and Gaga's "Bad Romance."
In Best Male Video, Usher's epic "OMG" lands a nod, as well as Jason Derulo's "In My Head," Drake's "Find Your Love," Em's "Not Afraid" and B.o.B's "Airplanes."
Many of the pop world's recent favorites will face off in the Best New Artist category. Justin Bieber ("Baby"), Ke$ha ("Tik Tok"), Jason Derulo ("In My Head"), Nicki Minaj (for her Sean Garrett collabo "Massive Attack") and indie supergroup Broken Bells ("The Ghost Inside") will see who can dominate as this year's reigning newbie.
Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories, including Best New Artist, from Tuesday (August 3) through September 12.

While Lady Gaga has worked with everyone from RedOne and Akon to Teddy Riley and Rodney Jerkins, she sticks to a pretty tight-knit group of collaborators when it comes to her albums, including the forthcoming Born This Way. But that doesn't mean singer/songwriter Ne-Yo hasn't been trying to get in the studio with the "Bad Romance" songstress.
"We've been talking to Gaga's people about some stuff," he said. "Gaga's very difficult to get a hold of as of late, for obvious reasons. She's very busy. We've been talking to her people about doing some stuff."
Ne-Yo is best known for working with artists like Rihanna and Beyoncé and crafting pop-influenced R&B tunes. So how would he apply his hitmaking formula to the dance queen's music? "I have no idea! That's kind of the intriguing thing that I have no idea what that song would sound like," he said. "Like, would I jump into her world? Would I pull her into mine? I don't know, but I feel like it would be interesting to see. Maybe we should get a camera crew over when that happens."
While a Gaga collabo isn't a sure thing, Ne-Yo has confirmed that he's working with Beyoncé on her next album.
"The thing about working with Beyoncé is that she definitely has her own agenda," the "Irreplaceable" songwriter said. "She's an artist that knows exactly what she wants to do.
"She's going to give you directions [like] 'Here's where I'm going, so here's where I need you to be,' " Ne-Yo explained. "And, you know, I'm a person that follows direction well. [And she'll be like], 'So this is the sound, this is the vibe; make it happen.' And I write and she likes it or she doesn't. And in this case she did, and there you have it."

Justin Bieber Is 'Funny,' 'Outgoing,' Rumored Girlfriend Says
'He's not fake at all,' Jasmine Villegas, the girl Bieber was caught kissing, says.

While it has yet to be confirmed whether Justin Bieber and his "Baby" co-star and current My World tour opener Jasmine Villegas are dating, she opened up about the pop star in a new interview. She never mentioned their current romantic status, but she did note that Bieber is as real as it gets.
"Well, let's see, [what's] something that I would know about Justin ... He's just an outgoing person. He's funny," she told Bop and Tiger Beat in an interview posted online. "He's just so random, but I think everybody would know that.
"There's not much that I would know that people don't know because Justin is just 100 percent [real] with his fans and his friends and he gives everybody his full personality," she dished. "So that's a really good thing about him. He's not fake at all. He's just like, 'I'm Justin. Here's me.' "
Rumors of a romance between Villegas and Bieber were fueled when the two were recently caught kissing in the backseat of a car. Both have denied that anything is going on, with Bieber insisting he's single.
"I mean, girlfriends are trouble at this age," he said. "Girls are fun to hang out with but, like, having that one steady girl ... we're constantly traveling and one girl's not gonna really [work]. You can't really have one girl. I don't really have any crushes at the moment. ... Right now, the best thing is [that we're] just teenagers having fun doing what we love. We're just staying ourselves and remaining humble."

'Glee' Tackles Britney Spears' Snake-Charming VMA Set
Heather Morris rocks a boa and bikini similar to Spears' 2001 Video Music Awards performance.

Hold tight, Gleeks! The all-Britney Spears episode of "Glee" is just days away, and details about the pop star's tribute are trickling in.
We already know the McKinley high-schoolers are going to revamp Brit's debut smash " ... Baby One More Time" and her Madonna match-up "Me Against the Music." The song-and-dance crew has also reached beyond Spears' trendsetting clips to one of her iconic stage performances: the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards rendition of "I'm a Slave 4 U."
A picture surfaced Friday (September 24) of the megastar's "Glee" namesake Brittany (played by Heather Morris) rocking a bejeweled green-and-blue two-piece similar to Spears' skimpy VMA ensemble, with a yellow boa draped over her shoulders.
Morris recently opened up about the arc of Tuesday's episode, dishing that the glee clubbers rebel against Schuester's ban on retooling Spears' hits.
"Through a special substance, I go under and have a couple of dream sequences — not only myself, but with Santana [Naya Rivera]," Morris told Australian magazine TV Week. "A lot of it has to do with Will [Matthew Morrison] not allowing us to perform Britney Spears songs, because he doesn't agree with what kind of entertainer she is, so it's our fight to do Britney. But it's not just us doing Britney in show choir; there are other sequences — it's our homage to her."
Tuesday's show is shaping up to be a busy one for Morris, who is also vamping it up opposite Spears herself in their reworking of "Music." However, the actress insisted her previous encounters with Spears helped her stay cool around the pop icon.
"It wasn't really nerve-racking, because I've met her before and I wasn't really overwhelmed by who she is," she said. "But the idea of what she has given us for the show and, for me, getting to dance with her and play with her on set, I was just staring at her at one point and thinking, 'This is just so frickin' awesome.' "

Justin Bieber Dolls Coming Soon
Do you wish you could carry Justin Bieber around in your pocket? Do you dream about making him sing on cue? Well, now you can! Bieber dolls are coming soon to all major retailers, just in time for the holidays.
Five Bieber dolls will be available, which means you can carry a new one around each day of the work week (or school week -- whatever your age)! For $17.99 each, you can choose from a variety of three fashion dolls -- Beiber in his streetwear, Bieber at an awards show or Bieber on the red carpet. The mini pop star will come with his own magazine, microphone and sunglasses or headphones so you can customize him as you like.
But if that's not enough (because your real dream is to hear The Biebs singing all day and night), you can pay an extra $10 to pick from two singing Bieber dolls who play 30-second clips of his songs -- one plays "One Less Lonely Girl," while the other serenades you with "Baby."
The downfall? That luxurious brown mane that you can't wait to get your hands on? Well, keep waiting. The Bieber dolls' hair is plastic, so running your fingers through that feathered 'do will have to remain a far-off fantasy. But, who knows what they'll come out with next?
Check out JustinBieberToys.com for even more Bieber paraphernalia (like plush dolls... though if you decide to sleep with them at night, you might not want to tell anyone).

Jimmy Eat World Didn't 'Censor' Themselves On Invented
'It's always just about fleshing out an idea to as far as we can take it,' frontman Jim Adkins tells MTV News.
By James Montgomery
Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins
Photo: MTV News
On Tuesday (September 28), Jimmy Eat World return with Invented, their first album in nearly three years and the first since they rather rightfully assumed their position as figureheads of angsty, punk-influenced (don't call it "emo") rock.
Whether this happened thanks to the success of their Clarity x 10 Tour, held in honor of the 10th anniversary of their criminally underappreciated 1999 album, or the continued championing of their catalog by acts like Paramore, or even the simple fact that — unlike similar bands like the Promise Ring and Jets to Brazil — Jimmy Eat World are still churning out albums, there's no denying that the band's status has been upped significantly in recent years. Though, it might not surprise you to know that Jimmy Eat World don't necessarily agree with this assessment.
"I mean, I suppose in 'rock-star years,' we've sort of become figureheads," frontman Jim Adkins laughed. "It's flattering when other musicians take the time to acknowledge you and say they respect your work. I'm flattered by that. [Paramore's] Hayley [Williams] is a sweet girl, and it's a big compliment."
So rather than rest on those (supposed) laurels, Adkins decided to shake up the very foundation of Jimmy Eat World when it came time to write Invented. Rather than proceed in the same manner he had been for nearly two decades, he took a brand-new approach to penning songs this time around: the oft-dreaded "writing exercise," inspired by the work of photographers Hannah Starkey and Cindy Sherman.
"I started flipping through their photography books, and the work I was going through was based on one central figure or maybe a small group. It's composed things, there's a cinematic look to it, there's a scene, but nothing is explained for you," Adkins said. "So what I would do was take a little bit of time and kind of just free-write about any aspect that came to mind about it. You know, like, who these people are, what decisions they might be making in that moment, who are the people they might be looking at off camera.
"The idea wasn't to get material for Jimmy Eat World songs, it was just to get your brain working," he continued. "But then, as we would go on and work on our own material, some of the more interesting ideas from those sessions started creeping in to those songs, and after a while, there was enough of those ideas that became songs that the rest of the band was really liking, and that kind of became the majority of the record."
And teeming with that same sense of exploration, Invented is the band's best album in nearly a decade (since their breakout Bleed American, for sure). It's by turns raucous and ringing (first single "My Best Theory"), mellow and centered ("Heart Is Hard to Find") and even spacious and soaring (album-closer "Mixtape"), the product of a reinvigorated band that's not quite willing to accept the whole "figurehead" thing just yet. Truth be told, right now, Jimmy Eat World would settle for just being another band. And this record is proof of that.
"I think the record ... it's kind of all over the place. Our roots are in guitar-based rock, and the fun guitar riffs to play, [they're] exciting to play. ... There's also really, really mellow things on the record; it's kind of up and down," Adkins said. "In writing and recording, we don't censor ourselves when we're coming up with new ideas; it's always just about fleshing out an idea to as far as we can take it. And then, later on, when it comes time for us to decide which tunes are going to be an album, it's always based on 'What do we feel are the strongest songs?' ... It can be anything, as long as we feel like it's a good song."
Are you glad Jimmy Eat World are back with new music? Let us know in the comments!

Usher's VMA-Nominated 'OMG' Inspired By '80s Sci-Fi Character
Usher in "OMG"
For a video as forward-thinking as Usher's "OMG" -- with its laser beams and light flashes -- director Anthony Mandler actually looked back for inspiration.
"The original idea was kind of Max Headroom," Mandler told MTV News, citing the animated science-fiction character from '80s British TV. "That's where it came from — the TV flickering on and there's this character. We just wanted to bring it up to date."
"Max Headroom was always in his room," he continued, "this unidentifiable room, '80s shapes. I used that for inspiration."
The formula worked: "OMG" is among the Best Male Video nominees for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The clip is up against Drake's "Find Your Love," Jason Derülo's "In My Head," Eminem's "Not Afraid" and B.o.B's "Airplanes." Mandler is a multiple nominee, having also helmed Drake's video.
"OMG" is the first time Usher and Mandler — who has worked with Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna — collaborated on a project.
Usher said he knew the video would be a challenge and wanted to make sure the director was up to the task.
"When I first shot the song to him, I was like, 'Are you sure you're gonna be able to catch this one?' And he said, 'I got it,' " Usher explained.
"We wanted to bring Will.I.Am (the song's producer) into my world," he continued. "Obviously, the international sound and look and feel has already been set, but we wanted to do something theatrical, fun and energetic to show us working off of each other and playing off of each other as artists, but the cinematography would be artistic and incredible."
Mandler described the visuals as "Hitchcock-ian." Though the style of the shot was important to the director, he had a simpler goal in mind: to capture Usher in his element. He said the key to the clip was simply letting Usher's talent take over.
"The concept was to create a world where we put Usher in a space where he does what I think he does better than anyone else in the world, which is perform at a level and magnitude of a superstar and take us, the viewer, whether audible or visually, on a journey, not a ride," the director said. "And, in that, I wanted to create an unpredictability, so one set leads to another and another, and you never know what's gonna happen. Along the way, Usher becomes our guide. We're so focused on him, we don't notice the change. The thing is unfolding little by little, and you can't quite see far enough ahead to know what's gonna come next."
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12. 'Wall Street' Brings In Box-Office Bucks

The Box-Office Top Five
#1 "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" ($7 million)
#2 "The Town" ($5 million)
#3 "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" ($4.6 million)
#4 "Easy A" ($3.6 million)
#5 "You Again" ($2.8 million)
Proving money still talks — at least, to moviegoers — "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" took the top spot at the Friday box office. Michael Douglas' return as Gordon Gekko, 23 years after he powered the cautionary money, power and success tale of the original "Wall Street," rang up $7 million in ticket sales.
Another cash-grabbing flick, "The Town," also scored big with audiences, landing in the second-place slot. The film, which follows vault looters (Ben Affleck), ladies (Blake Lively and Rebecca Hall) and the law (Jon Hamm) as they get caught up in the nefarious Boston bank-robbing underworld, made $5 million. The haul brings the movie's total estimated tally to just over $38 million since its debut last Friday.
The Friday top five wasn't all about money grubbing and shady ethics. The animated feature "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" debuted in third place. Adapted from the children's book series by author Kathryn Lasky, and boasting voice-over performances from Helen Mirren and Geoffrey Rush, the kid-friendly fantasy flick raked in an estimated $4.6 million.
The high-school comedy "Easy A" continued to turn in good marks at the box office. Featuring a cast of young Hollywood names, including Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes, the flick pulled in $3.6 million during its second Friday on screens.
Rounding out the top five with a tale of post-high school awkwardness is "You Again." Audiences plunked down $2.8 million to catch Kristen Bell's turn as a successful PR professional grappling with the fact that her brother's fiancé is her onetime schoolyard nemesis.

Lady Gaga Adds Monster Ball Tour Dates
Lady Gaga
Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News
Lady Gaga just won't stop. The singer, in the midst of her already massive Monster Ball Tour, has added another dozen dates to the outing, which will now keep her on the road in North America through late April 2011.
The new shows begin with a March 1 date in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and include stops in Omaha (March 17), San Diego (March 29), Orlando (April 15), Tampa (April 16) and Cleveland (April 27).
Perhaps staying on the road will help the VMA-winning singer deal with the death of her beloved grandfather, Joseph Germanotta, who died on Friday at age 88. Gaga remembered him in writing on Sunday, tweeting, "Having a Perfect Manhattan, for my perfect guy. Love you Giuseppe."
In May, Lady Gaga opened up to fans about her then-sick grandfather during her Monster Ball Tour show in Nottingham, England. "I don't always talk about my personal life but my grandpa's sick," she revealed. "And I'm really close with my grandpa and he's really sick and he's in the States and my dad's with him. So I was, like, crying all day, really sad. So I thought I might just be honest and tell you that's what's going on."
But in true Gaga fashion, the singer put her emotions into her music by dedicating her ballad "Speechless" to the elder Germanotta. "So it's been one of those tough things that my grandpa's too old to come to my show, but I suppose if we sing loud enough, he'll be able to hear us. So this one's for you Grandpa," she said after breaking down in tears.
Though a release date has not yet been announced, it's possible that Gaga's second full-length studio album, Born This Way, could be released while she's still on the road. Producer RedOne, a frequent collaborator of Gaga's, told MTV News that the upcoming disc is Gaga's "freedom album," though he declined to say much more as the project is too "precious" for him to spill the beans on.
New Lady Gaga tour dates:
» March 1 - Grand Rapids, MI @ Van Andel Arena
» March 4 - Buffalo, NY @ HSBC Arena
» March 6 - Ottawa, ON @ Scotiabank Center
» March 12 - Louisville, KY @ KFC Yum! Center
» March 17 - Omaha, NE @ Qwest Center
» March 29 - San Diego, CA @ Viejas Arena
» April 15 - Orlando, FL @ Amway Center
» April 16 - Tampa, FL @ St. Pete Times Forum
» April 22 - Newark, NJ @ Prudential Center
» April 23 - Uniondale, NY @ Nassau Coliseum
» April 25 - Montreal, QC @ Bell Centre

Although the MTV Video Music Awards aren't until Sunday, a slew of VMA-themed concerts featuring Ke$ha, B.o.B and others will take over Los Angeles in the days leading up to the big show.
Sean Kingston kicks things off Thursday night (September 9) with the Verizon Club Night Concert Event at Hollywood's Playhouse, where Jermaine Dupri will also be spinning. On Friday night, Jason Derülo and Never Shout Never will take the Music Box stage at a concert sponsored by Taco Bell and Feed the Beat.
On Saturday night, "Rock Band 3" and FreeCreditScore.com will present the 2010 MTV VMA Concert to Benefit Lifebeat — The Music Industry Fights AIDS, featuring VMA nominees Ke$ha and B.o.B. The "Tik Tok" singer said she is honored to play a show benefiting such an important cause. "It's really awesome that MTV can bring together incredible musicians over VMA weekend, not only to entertain, but to make a difference," she said. "The world of celebrity is a funny game, although it's a great feeling to have the opportunity to use my fame for a good cause helping those in need."
B.o.B is equally excited to perform for a good cause: "The road to the VMAs has been a wild one. I'm glad to be taking time the night before the big show to support a great organization. Lifebeat's message of HIV prevention is an important one for young people, and I am honored to join them in the fight."
Tickets for the Ke$ha and B.o.B event, with all proceeds going to Lifebeat, are available at Lifebeat.org.

When Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo and New Edition were performing tributes to Michael Jackson during last year's BET Awards show, Chris Brown was nowhere to be found, even though many felt he was an obvious choice to honor the fallen legend. Brown's assault on Rihanna several months earlier presumably kept him out of the show.
On Sunday night (June 27), Brown finally got his chance to publicly honor the man he idolized -- and while his dancing was flawless, when the time came for him to sing, he simply fell apart.
After being introduced by Jermaine Jackson, Brown beautifully channeled Michael as he danced to "Remember the Time," "Smooth Criminal" and "Billie Jean." Yet when he grabbed a mic to sing "Man in the Mirror," he choked up, visibly weeping.
"I'm gonna make a change for once in my ..." Brown's voice trailed off. He was out of breath and sounded hoarse. Tears stained his cheeks as he paced the stage, holding the microphone by his side. "This ... wind is blowing my ... Who am I to..." He clearly knew the lyrics but they failed to come out.
Brown faded in and out of the song, closing his eyes, grimacing, trying to soldier on. Whether it was the emotion of the moment or the past 16 months, Brown struggled and failed to find his voice, even though the pre-recorded backing vocals played on.
Finally, he gave up, raised a bandaged finger to the sky and fell to his knees as Michael Jackson's voice could be heard saying, "I'm starting with the man in the mirror." The camera cut from Brown to an audience member who clearly uttered "Oh my God," in shock.
The audience loudly sang the words that Brown could not. Their aid seemed to move Brown to rise from his knees and mouth the words along with Jackson's voice, while gesturing along with the mic as tears rolled down his face. In the audience, actress Taraji P. Henson could be seen mouthing, "That's all right baby," as Brown walked offstage to Jermaine Jackson, who moved to console him.
Brown's emotional performance echoed through the rest of the show. When Niecy Nash came onstage to present the Video of the Year award, she said, "When Chris Brown started crying I got choked up."
Backstage, "a lot of folks were getting misty-eyed, understanding that he was overwhelmed with emotion," BET publicist Zabrina Horton said. "Me, personally, I think 'Man in the Mirror' was great for him to do because I'm sure he still feels bad about Rihanna and wants to be forgiven. He has to make that change himself for himself and he knows that."
Later in the show, when accepting the AOL Fandemonium prize, which measures an artist's "online and mobile fan power," Brown spoke briefly.
"I didn't really prepare a speech because I didn't really think I was gonna be backstage," he said. "But bottom line, I couldn't never do this without my fans. Team Breezy, all the support I've been getting from day one.
"I just wanna say one thing,' he concluded. "I let y'all down before but I won't do it again, I promise. I love y'all, good night."

Mary J. Blige Dishes On Her 'Crazy' Led Zeppelin Covers
Mary J. Blige
Photo: MTV News
You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin.
In early February, reports began circulating that Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven," working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday.
But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine.
"I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun."
Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon.
"I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

With the "Sin City" actress dressed casually while showing off a black bra underneath a cutoff white t-shirt, Jess and Honor busily tried on clothes and shoes at the popular shopping destination.
After making their selections, the two lovely ladies closed out the day's outing by grabbing a bite to eat for lunch on the department store's top level.
On the career front, Miss Alba recently finished up filming a new movie called " An Invisible Sign" - which is a drama about "a loner named Mona Grey who as a child turned to maths for salvation after her father became ill."

Beyonce Has An 'Agenda' For New Album, Ne-Yo Says
Ne-Yo
Photo: MTV News
Beyoncé may have killed off Sasha Fierce for her next album, but that doesn't mean that whatever she turns out won't be just as, dare we say, fierce as her previous effort. And Ne-Yo, who reveals he is working with the megastar on the follow-up to 2008's I Am ... Sasha Fierce, says that it's easy-peasy working with Bey, mostly because she knows exactly what she wants.
"The thing about working with Beyoncé is that she definitely has her own agenda," the "Irreplaceable" songwriter told MTV News about the hush-hush song (or songs) the pair worked on together. "She's an artist that knows exactly what she wants to do."

Justin Bieber Gets 'Kudos' For His 'CSI' Cameo
Justin Bieber on "CSI"
Photo: CBS
Justin Bieber might be one of a handful of pop stars to make a cameo on "CSI," but he has certainly left his mark on the cast and the crew of the hit CBS crime drama. When Bieber hits the small screen Thursday night (September 23) for his performance as Jason McCann, he will certainly leave fans stunned by his acting chops, one of the show's producers told MTV News.
"I thought that he did a really good job. We only had Justin for a day, for 10 and a half hours, and he had a lot of work crammed into those 10 and a half hours," executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said about the first of Bieber's two appearances on the show. "And he had one super big scene, and the scene was an interrogation scene in the police department with [actor] George Eads, and George actually took Justin under his wing."
Why did the veteran "CSI" actor feel that Biebs was worthy of his mentorship? "George said that when he was just starting out, Tom Selleck took him under his wing, so I think he tried to return that kindness, and he really had some time to work the material," she explained. "We built in some time, and I thought that scene was really good, and Justin had a couple of scenes where he didn't have a lot of dialogue or no dialogue and then two pretty heavy scenes."
Noting that Bieber did a "really good job" with the heavier work, Mendelsohn added that Bieber has some acting chops. "It's hard for any accomplished, mature actor to come on the set and fall right into character and do your work, so kudos to Justin," she said.

Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj And More VMA Virgins
Justin Bieber
Photo: Robyn Beck/ Getty Images
Be gentle with these guys — it's their first time as nominees or performers at the MTV Video Music Awards. Here's a look at this year's VMA virgins and where you'll see them come Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Ke$ha
It was almost impossible to turn the radio on and not hear Kesha's party-happy pop track "Tik Tok" over the past year. (She also did the background vocals on Flo Rida's ubiquitous "Right Round.") The singer is up for Best New Artist, and she'll present an award Sunday. "This is such a monumental thing for me to be nominated, because it really means people do really like what I'm doing," she said.
Nicki Minaj
Lil Wayne's wig-loving protégé will perform during the VMA pre-show on Sunday, and perhaps the mixtape diva will give us a taste of her forthcoming debut album, Pink Friday. "Obviously, this is something everybody dreamed of being part of, and I'm no exception to that rule," she said. "I just feel like this is my coming-out party. This is major for an artist with no album out."
Cascada
Natalie Horler fronts this German Eurodance group, and along with DJ Manian and Yanou, the band will make their VMA debut Sunday. They'll be competing in the newly revamped Dance Music Video category. Earlier this year, it was announced that they were the second-most-downloaded dance artists of all time. Who's the most downloaded? French DJ David Guetta, which brings us to our next rookie ...
David Guetta
The French DJ is responsible for sweating up dance floors, both international and domestic, and he finally nabs his first VMA for "Sexy Chick," featuring Akon.
B.o.B
The Atlanta rapper is up for five VMAs, and he'll take the stage for the first time.
Florence and the Machine
Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch is bringing her funked-out, soulful vocals to the VMA stage this year, where she's up for four awards.
Jason Derülo
The pop singer feels like he already won at the VMAs. Last year, he attended the awards, but he sat in the back of the house. "This year, I'm nominated for two awards. It's incredible," said the singer, who has opened for Lady Gaga. "I've watched these awards my whole entire life, so to finally be a part of it is a dream come true. Pinch me, please." Derülo will be taking the stage with VMA house artist Deadmau5.
Justin Bieber
Bieber presented a VMA with Ke$ha at the 2009 show, but this year, he's up for Best New Artist and is set to perform.
Deadmau5
In case you're wondering, it's pronounced "dead mouse" (real name: Joel Thomas Zimmerman), and he's a Canadian house producer. He'll be working as this year's house artist.
Chelsea Handler
The comedian is the first woman to host the VMAs since 1994. Prepare for laughter beyond belief from the E! talk-show hostess.
Drake
The Toronto rapper (and Lil Wayne protégé) is up for three Moonmen; he'll also perform at the VMAs for the first time.
Robyn
Fresh off a tour with Kelis, Robyn, a Swedish pop singer, will perform with deadmau5 on Sunday at the VMAs.
Bruno Mars
Up for one VMA (along with collaborator B.o.B), Bruno Mars will also perform for the first time at the VMAs.
Who's your favorite VMA virgin? Share your thoughts in the comments!
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday.

Tony Yayo Says 50 Cent's Beef With Fat Joe Is 'My Problem' Too
Tony Yayo on "RapFix Live" on Thursday
Photo: Jonathan Goldner/MTV News
Tony Yayo wants to make it clear how the beef between 50 Cent and Fat Joe spills over to the rest of the G-Unit crew: "I didn't have a problem with Fat Joe; 50 did," Yayo explained Thursday (September 23) on "RapFix Live." "So now it's my problem."
Fat Joe and 50 Cent have been trading barbs in rhyme and during interviews for years now. When the Terror Squad lyricist appeared on "RapFix Live" last month, he said there's little chance the dispute with Fif could end peacefully. "The day 50 Cent want to lock up with me in a bathroom and do this like men, we can hug each other and keep it moving the day after that," Joe said, referring to a one-on-one fight.
Yayo, however, dismissed Joe's notion. The G-Unit soldier said the idea of a straight-up battle is unheard of in his Queens, New York, neighborhood and said he'd jump into a fight with 50 against Fat Joe.
"Where I'm from, there's no such thing as a fair one," he explained. "If that man is fighting, you fighting too. That's just how it is. Like [Joe] said, he don't know where [the beef] started from. Whatever beef 50 got with him, that's his issue. But 50 is my homie, and it is what it is."
When asked if the issue between 50 and Joe could exist solely between the two men, Yayo didn't think so. "If you really dislike 50, then you really dislike Yayo," he said. " 'Cause anybody that doesn't like 50 isn't gonna like Yayo. There goes the answer right there. If I see you, you see me, something might potentially happen."
What do you think about the ongoing beef between 50 Cent and Fat Joe? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Will Ferrell Says Fan Outcry Hasn't Helped 'Anchorman 2' Chances
Will Ferrell
Photo: MTV News
Covering the saga of "Anchorman 2" is kind of like viewing Panda Watch in '70s-era San Diego: Not a whole lot happens, yet you can't look away.
Five months after MTV News broke the news that negotiations by Will Ferrell and "Anchorman" director Adam McKay with Paramount for a sequel to their 2004 comedy had collapsed, we're still waiting and watching, hoping for good news.
Earlier this month, a small nugget of good news seemed to come in the form of McKay's comment to Collider that fan outcry had helped in their push to get "Anchorman 2" made. Was Paramount closer to getting onboard? Not at all, Ferrell told us.
"Nope," he said at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting "Everything Must Go." "Paramount, which is owned by your parent company, Viacom — so maybe [chairman] Sumner [Redstone] can get involved here in this — but they seem indifferent to any sort of public outcry for this."
The sticking point all along has been an inability to agree on a budget. Ferrell and his co-stars — including Paul Rudd and Steve Carell — cut their salaries, but Paramount remained wary of green-lighting a sequel to a film that was hardly a blockbuster in theaters and only took off on DVD and cable.
" 'Austin Powers' didn't make a ton of money in its first go-round, and then it caught fire in the next one," McKay told us he'd argued.
But Paramount was not convinced, and the sequel collapsed. While McKay holds out hope that the studio might eventually reconsider, Ferrell seems convinced "Anchorman 2" is not to be.
"It's very flattering to us," he said of the fan support. "We love it, but apparently, they don't care."
Check out everything we've got on "Anchorman: The Legend of Run Burgundy."

Tony Yayo To Appear On 'RapFix Live'

When you put the hottest lyricists in the game on a couch across from MTV News' Sway and get them to answer questions dreamed up by fans at home, anything can happen.
On "RapFix Live," lyricists MCs announced record deals, busted out freestyles with Travis Barker and opened up about Twitter drama. So, a live, unedited fan-driven webcast with one of the pillars of the rowdy Gorilla Unit is sure to deliver a few "did that just really happen?" moments.
Queens spitter Tony Yayo will drop by 1515 for this week's show, which kicks off Thursday at a spankin' new time, 4 p.m. ET. We're cooking up some questions but we have no idea what nuggets of knowledge Yayo will drop. Will he unveil Lil B as the newest addition to the Unit? Will he reveal the best way to subdue an over-amped fan mid-bumrush? Will he disclose how Oprah the Dog came into her own Twitter account?
It's up to the real Yayo fans to get online and decide what the lyricist will address, so tweet your questions to @mtvnews and @mtvrapfix, and find out the answers during the live stream. The last time MTV News caught up with Yayo, he revealed that he keeps an eclectic playlist on hand, bumping everything from J. Cole to Lady Gaga. The lyricist also opened up about collaborating with breakout Pack star Lil B on Yayo's forthcoming mixtape.
"Lil B, I told you I'm feeling," he told us. "I wanna start something new and get some artists under the wing. Lil B, Danny Brown is on the mixtape coming soon. [G-Unit member] New Money Trav. Trav knows Lil B. He has connections with Too Short. I got connections with E-40. They all end up coming to the show in the Bay. That's how 50 [Cent] wound up doing the remix to [E-40's] 'N---a Don't Act Like a Bitch.' They all ended up backstage. We had E-40 back there, Too Short, Lil Uno from the Pack. It was so many people back there. I linked up with Lil B. His music is good. He's a real humble dude. That cooking dance is hot."

VMA Nominations By The Numbers: Lady Gaga On Top
Lady Gaga
Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News
For an artist who has quickly made a habit of smashing records, Lady Gaga improbably did it again on Tuesday (August 2). She leaped past such career stars as "Telephone"/ "Video Phone" collaborator Beyoncé to set a new record for the most nominations in a single year for MTV's Video Music Awards, which air Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET.
The Mother Monster racked up 13 nods, far outpacing the artists with the second-most nominations, a resurgent Eminem, who racked up eight. On her way to setting the record, Gaga also became the first female artist nominated for two different clips in the coveted Video of the Year category for "Bad Romance" and "Telephone."
But 13 isn't the only significant number this year. We've pored over the nominations and here's a breakdown of the other figures popping out at the 2010 Video Music Awards:
1994: The year Usher's debut was released. As for the other nominees in the Best Male Video category, Eminem hit the scene in 1996, while the other three acts in the category — Drake, B.o.B and Jason DeRulo — didn't release their full-length debuts until 2010.
25: Nominated artists who've appeared on a NOW That's What I Call Music! Compilation: Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Rihanna, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Jason DeRulo, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Drake, Eminem, David Guetta, Katy Perry, 3OH!3, Kid Cudi, Pink, Beyonce, Coldplay, David Guetta, Enrique Iglesias, Green Day, Gorillaz, Jay-Z, MGMT, Muse and Paramore.
23 years: Age difference between Best New Artists nominees Broken Bells' James Mercer (39) and Justin Bieber (16).
9: The record Gaga will have to beat if she wants to snag the distinction of most wins in a single night, currently held by Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer."
7: Number of nominated artists who are playing at this year's Lollapalooza festival: B.o.B., Dan Black, Green Day, MGMT, Mumford and Sons, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys.
6: First time nominees, including B.o.B., Ke$ha, Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons.
2 1/2: Artists nominated in the Video of the Year category who were up for the award last year: Gaga (with assist from last year's winner, Beyoncé) and Eminem.
2: Previous times Eminem has been nominated for Video of the Year.
1: Number of times the band Ratatat has been mentioned before in connection with the VMAs.
1: Opportunities for a cast member of "Jersey Shore" to hop up onstage during an award acceptance, should Enrique Iglesias win for "I Like It" from the "Shore" soundtrack album.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories, including Best New Artist, from Tuesday (August 3) through September 12.
